A strike could cause travel disruption at Paris airports just before the Olympics

Paris airport workers are threatening to strike ahead of the opening of the Olympics.

Unions representing workers at AĆ©roports de Paris (ADP), which includes Roissy-Charles de Gaulle and Orly airports, have called a strike for Wednesday, July 17th.

The reason for the strike is a dispute over employee bonuses.

If the strike by members of the CGT, CFDT, FO and UNSA goes ahead, it could cause chaos just nine days before the first day of the Olympics.

Why might Paris airport workers go on strike?

The union is unhappy that ADP workers have not received the so-called Olympic bonus.

In a statement, they condemned “the CEO's unilateral decision to pay bonuses to only some staff.”

Roissy-Charles de Gaulle and Orly airports will be the main gateways for tourists entering France for the Olympics, with the opening ceremony scheduled for July 26.
